You’ve decided to do the Char Dham Yatra. Now the real question: who takes you there?

The roads to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are not ordinary roads. They are steep, narrow, beautiful, and unpredictable — especially during the busy pilgrimage months. The driver you choose, and the vehicle you travel in, shapes the entire experience from the moment you leave Haridwar.

At Car for Uttarakhand, we have been running this circuit every season, and we know these routes the way most people know their neighbourhood. This is our home ground.

The 2026 Season Is Open — Plan Before You Miss the Window

The Char Dham Yatra 2026 is fully underway. All four shrines opened in April and remain accessible through mid-November:

Opening & Closing Dates

Dham Opens Closes (Tentative)
Yamunotri 19 April 11 November
Gangotri 19 April 10 November
Kedarnath 22 April 11 November
Badrinath 23 April 13 November

Best Travel Window

Mid-April to June, and September to October. Avoid July–August if you can — monsoon brings landslide risk on mountain stretches and delays no one plans for.

Your Route, Your Pace — Private Taxi for Char Dham Yatra

Unlike shared cabs or bus tours, a private taxi for Char Dham Yatra means you leave when you want, stop where you want, and rest when your body asks for it — not when a rigid schedule says so. The full circuit from Haridwar covers roughly 1,000–1,200 km across 9–12 days, passing through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in India. Here is what each leg looks like:

Yamunotri ~225 km

Road ends at Janki Chatti. A gentle 5–6 km trek balances the journey — pony and palki facilities are readily available.

Gangotri ~290 km

Fully road-accessible via Uttarkashi. No trekking is required. Calm, well-connected, and structurally smooth layout.

Kedarnath ~250 km

The most demanding leg — drops off at Gaurikund followed by a steep 16–18 km trek. Helicopter options are accessible via IRCTC’s official portal only.

Badrinath ~320 km

Straight to the temple perimeter by road. The easiest of the four legs, making it completely perfect for senior pilgrims.

Matched Perfectly to Your Group

We match your vehicle to your group dynamics. All vehicles are regularly serviced, thoroughly detailed, and driven exclusively by experienced hill drivers who respect the unique rhythm of mountain transit.

Don’t Forget: Char Dham Yatra Registration 2026 Is Mandatory

Every single pilgrim must register before traveling. No Yatra Pass means no entry at government checkpoints — it’s that simple in 2026. Once registered, you’ll receive a QR-code Yatra Pass. Carry it printed, along with your official identification documentation, at all times. Pilgrims above 55 or with pre-existing health conditions also need to secure a medical fitness certificate.

We walk every Car for Uttarakhand passenger through this structural verification process as a core part of booking — so you’re not figuring it out alone the night before departure.

Not 10 Days? We Have Shorter Options Too

Both packages operate with our signature private setup — your dedicated vehicle, your personalized schedule, and an experienced local driver.
